Sumo weight categories

Amateur sumo has weight classes, so that rikishi of all sizes can compete on an equal footing. Amateur sumo also has women divisions. Both of these attributes were developed in order for sumo to satisfy International Olympic Committee criteria, so that sumo can become an Olympic sport.
